If I want to become a massage therapist, why should I attend classes at your school?
You will be attending classes with others who want to be massage therapists. At other schools you likely will be attending classes with nursing assistants, medical billing clerks, blood and other laboratory technicians, and pharmacy techs. These schools teach other classes, that don't relate to massage therapy and may not be required for massage licensing, which all students attend. At CSM we specialize in massage therapy. We are a small school which allows you to not only have individual attention, but also have the ability to network with others. We do not have the hurried feel of other colleges.

What is the difference in attending a public or private educational institution?
The Congressional Budget Office published a report on beyond high school education. A Harvard University study is on which the report principally relies. Favorable to private schools are the percentage of students graduating from certificate training programs are higher and private school massage training graduates scored better on licensing examinations in the top quarter than did graduates from public school massage programs. Private for-profit schools although had higher percentage in the second quartile than did the public school programs. More for-profit schools "still boasted more programs in the top quartile pass rates than the public schools overall." The results suggest "comparative" shopping for consumers.*
The Charleston School of Massage offers affordable tuition and a solid history of graduate job placement. Please contact a school advisor for more information.
